Pvt. William Ray enlisted in the Confederate Army and was mustered into Company I, 18th Mississippi Cavalry. He was captured by the Union Army and held in Camp Chase. He died there on 30 January 1865 and is buried in the Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery. [1]
