Biography

Mrs. Harvey (Margaret) Mcgranahan, 85, 522 w. Erie St., Linesville, died at Spencer Hospital Sunday June 22, 1975 after a one year illness.

She was born in Mercer County Feb. 22. 1890. daughter of James M. and Mary Koonce Ray. She married Harvey A. McGranahan June 24, 1913. Mrs. McGranahan was a member of Linesville United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. David W. (Mary) Parks of Linesville and Mrs. Ray (Madge) Schneider of Brooksville, Fla; a son, James of Meadville; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers, two sisters and on grandson.

Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thurman M. Houghton Funeral Home, Linesville, where Diamond Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, will conduct a service Tuesday at 8 p.m. and where services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jack elder, pastor of Linesville United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Rocky Glen Cemetery, near Adamsville. [1]

Harvey and Margaret purchased their Linesville, PA home from Ottillia and W. H. Edwards on January 22, 1917 according to the property deed. Presumably they moved to Linesville afterwards. The deed lists them residing in Jamestown, PA prior to this purchase.[2]

I remember that her funeral was postponed because the normal 3 days after death would have fallen on their 62nd wedding Aniversary. So Grandma McGranahan must have died on June 21st
