Biography

Lacy Woodward was born in 1873 at Rowley Regis, Staffordshire, the son of James Raybould and Mary Woodward.

In 1881 the family were living at 243 Halesowen Rd, Old Hill, Rowley Regis. Lacy was aged 7.

By the time of the 1891 census the family had moved to 312 Leeds Rd, Bradford, Yorkshire. Lacy, aged 18, was a whitesmith.

Lacy has not been located in the 1901 census.

Lacy Woodward Raybould married Lily Bankes Fairbourn in 1904 at Tadcaster, Yorkshire. Note: At birth her name was registered as Lilly Banks Fairbourn.

This couple had one son named Horace Fairbourn Raybould born 9 January 1906 at Bradford, Yorkshire. Horace was baptised on 4 February 1906 at the Eastbrook Mission Methodist Church, Bradford. At that time Lacy and Lilly were living at 1 Kimberley St, Laisterdyke.

Horace died shortly thereafter in infancy.

In the 1911 census Lacy and Lilly were still at 1 Kimberley Street. Lacy, aged 38, was a wood sawyer's labourer for a rolling board and packing base maker. Lilly was aged 50.

Lilly Banks Raybould died on 25 May 1929 aged 68 years.

From the 1929 Index of Wills and Administrations – RAYBOULD Lilly Banks of 1 Kimberley-street Laisterdyke Bradford (wife of Lacy Woodward Raybould) died 25 May 1929 Probate Wakefield 1 August to Herbert Marshall Fairbourn painter and the said Lacy Woodward Raybould woolcomber. Effects £328 3s. 4d.

Lacy remarried to Jane Brooke in 1936 at Bradford.

Lacy W Raybould died in aged 74 years [Death Jun Qtr 1948/Wharfedale 2d 638].

It is believed Jane Raybould died in 1951 aged 69 years [Death Mar Qtr 1951/Lower Agbrigg 2c 838].
