Biography

Roswell was born about 1769. He passed away in 1868. He was a Baptist minister and a Physician who devoted himself to agriculture. He is named as the father of 13 children, ten of which live to be grown. He is said to have moved to Michigan in 1860, settling in Lapeer.

Item written in 1892 noting Roswell as grandfather of John Wilsie[1]. Article provides some information about Roswell, and identifies Roswell as son of "Bansford" Raymond which is reasonably close to the man elsewhere identified as Roswell's father, Timothy Ransford Raymond. There appears to be incorrect information citing Roswell as a soldier in the Revolutionary War (we believe he would have been quite young) and misidentifies his mother's maiden name as Cora rather than Cary.

Interesting item about "Bansford" claiming he was a band master in the Revolutionary War and a favorite of General Washington who gave him a fiddle. While on his way home he was murdered by a band of Tories. The news was delivered to the family by a witness.

Roswell married Mary Carey.[2]

Roswell was in Brant , Ontario at age 94 [3]

Boswell, son of Timothy Rayment & Mary Rayment, died (age 99) on 15 January 1868 in Marathon, Lapeer, Michigan, United States.[4]

Roswell died on 15 January 1868 and was buried in Hollenbeck Cemetery, Columbiaville, Lapeer County, Michigan, United States.[5][6]

Roswell's son Cyrenns Rayment died on 21 August 1877 in Marathon, Lapeer, Michigan, United States.[7]

Hello! I am a descendant of Roswell Raymond through his daughter, Anna (Raymond) Wilsie. I would love to work with other descendants on this family. I have done a substantial amount of research on him and am willing to share. So far I have found ten children of Roswell and Mary and have a database on many of their descendants. If anyone is interested in collaborating, let me know!
