Elizabeth Rayner was born in 1858 in Woolwich, Kent, England to William Rayner and Mary (Kempstead) Rayner. Her birth was registered in Greenwich, London in the last quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Kempstead.[1]
In 1861 Elizabeth Rayner (age 2) lived at 34 Samuel Street in Woolwich with her father William (38, Drummer Mariner), mother Mary (27), and three siblings: William (5, Scholar), Mary (3, Scholar), and Charles (0).[2]
In 1871 Elizabeth Rayner (age 12, Scholar) lived in East Greenwich with her father William (38, Musician), mother Mary (37, Laundress), and six siblings: William (15, Labourer), Mary (13, Scholar), Charles (10, Scholar), Harriett (8, Scholar), Sophia (3, Scholar), and Janet (0).[3]

Elizabeth Rayner married John Adam Wright in 1881. The marriage was registered in Greenwich in the last quarter of the year.[4]
Daughter Lydia was born in Aldershot, Hampshire, and then the family had gone to Ireland by 1884. When Sophia was born John was a Corporal in the Royal Artillery and they lived at Cork Barracks in Cork, Ireland. When Harriett was born John was a Bombardier in the Royal Artillery and they lived at Mulgrave Street in Limerick, Ireland. They were back in England by 1887.
In 1891 Elizabeth Wright (age 31) lived at Ruby Street in Camberwell, Southwark, London with her husband John (31, Carman) and four children: Sophia (6, Scholar), Harriett (5, Scholar), Charles (3), and Edith (1).[5]
In 1901 Elizabeth Wright (age 42, Shirt Ironer) lived in London with five of her children: Lydia (18, Shirt Wrapper), Charles (13), Edith (11), John (8), and George (4).[6] Elizabeth's husband John (40, Bomdr RFA) lived in Preston, Sussex.
In 1911 Elizabeth Wright (age 51, Housewife) lived in Newington, London with six of her children: Lydia (28, Confect-Binder Forewoman), Sophia (26, Hose Maker-Confectionary), Harriett (24, Printers Under Forewoman), Edith (21, No Occupation Packers), John (18, Messenger Railway Printers), and George (14, Printers Assistant).[7]
