William was born in 1840. He was the son of James Rea and Sarah Morgan. [1] (His birth was registered in the fourth quarter of 1840.)

UK Census Date 1841: Recorded as William "Rew", living with his mother and brother Hamilton in Field Street, Walton On The Hill, Lancashire, England. Aged 6 months. Also in the household was his grandmother Elizabeth Morgan and one servant.
His father was a Master Mariner who no doubt spent many months at sea.
Sadly William passed away in 1843 at the age of 3 and a half.[4]
(He died just two days after his sister Sarah.)
