ON 1840 CENSUS FOR JACKSON CO. IL

An interesting article appears in the Executive Record, 1847-1852, Volume 5, Page 244; "Wilson Rea and John Goldon Convicted of sending a challenge to fight a duel and deprive of all Civil Rights by order of the Circuit Court, had their Civil Rights restored."
It is not known the order of the birth of their children; most all information comes from wills, estate papers, land abstracts and other papers concerning court proceedings. Some of their children were born in TN, and at least one John K. Rea was born in KY; the youngest was born in IL. Wilson Rea and Fannie Ann Franklin had the following children: (1) Gatewood Dunn Rea September 18, 1796-December 1850, died of pneumonia, Poinsett Co. Arkansas, married first on July 18, 1816 to Sarah Hooten, June 04, 1800 - September 07, 1847. Wilson and Dunn did not get along and Dunn left his family in Franklin Co. IL and went to Arkansas. He left behind a wife and 18 children. The 1840 census IL shows 10 children under the age of 20 years in his household. Dunn married second Mary C. Smith and they had one son. (2) Abraham Rea December 30, 1805North Carolina-April 24, 1871, married Delilia/Delila/ Delilah Neal 1810 IL-December 30, 1889. (3) Cynthia Rea born between 1800-1804, died Between 1837-1839. It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Wilson by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Wilson:

The parents' "confirmed with DNA" relationship status indicators were removed because the DNA confirmation is undocumented.

Please see this G2G article on DNA confirmation for more information and guidance on how to provide the proper source documentation to confirm genealogy with DNA.

Also recall WikiTree Honor Code VIII: We cite sources. Without sources we can't objectively resolve conflicting information.
