Biography

Susan Reardon Chisholm, of Scituate, formerly of Wellesley, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, July 15th 2019 at the age of 78.

Susan was born in Newton, MA on June 7th 1941, the daughter of the late Norbert V. and Mary (Groden) Reardon. She was the eldest of 6 children, moved from Newton and was raised in Cohasset, MA. She graduated from Fontbonne Academy in Milton and received her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Education from Emmanuel College in Boston in 1963.

Susan was the wife of the late John K. Chisholm. She is survived by her children, Kristen Chisholm Fisher and her husband, Michael Fisher of Coopersburg, PA and John K. Chisholm Jr. and his wife, Christina S. Chisholm of Hingham, MA. In addition, she is survived by 6 grandchildren; Cameron, Jackson and Luke Fisher of Coopersburg, PA and John, Katherine and William of Hingham, MA.

She leaves her brother Norbert V. Reardon of Cohasset and two sisters, Jane R. Russell of Cohasset and Elizabeth (Betsy) R. Good of Scituate. She was also the sister of the late Lt. Dennis J. Reardon, USMC, and the late Mark A. Reardon.

In her early days, Susan was employed as an elementary school teacher in the Scituate public school system. Following the death of her husband, she went on to run her own business, The Strawberry Patch for many years before working in finance for Fidelity Investments in Boston.

She loved flowers, tennis and the arts. She was a former member of the Wellesley Country Club, Wellesley Garden Club, Junior League of Boston and many more. She adored her 6 grandchildren and loved spending time at their games, school events and celebrations.

Visiting hours will be from 5:00 pm – 8:00pm on Thursday, July 18th at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home in Cohasset, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 19th at 10:00 am at St. Anthony’s Church in Cohasset. Interment will be a private family burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellesley, MA.
