Biography on memorial page :

"One of the first Rebsamen immigrants to come to America around the 1740s,1750's. Soon after, the Rebsamen family surname was Americanized to Turnipseed. Rebsamen means "farmer", or "turnip farmer" in German. Originally the Rebsamens came from Germany but were kicked out because of their religous beliefs. They first relocated in Switzerland and within a hundred years or so, they again relocated in America, soon to become the United States." (Unknown Source)
