Pennsylvania Dutch? "Your note about Jonathan Fine's marriage to Hannah Rector made me curious if Hannah was related to Nancy Rector who was mother in law of Vinet Fine. Recall that Vinet Fine married Effa McElwane (McElwain) daughter of Nancy Rector and George? McElwane. The McElwanes were from the part of VA that became WV- eventually Braxton WV. Nancy Rector McElwane was in Rockingham (Augusta) VA by 1781 and moved to Franklin VA by 1794. Effa's sister Mary marrried Peter Cogar of WV." http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/fine/2011-08/1312950192
gdtrauf53 on Ancestry.com noted on 5 Nov 2010: Nancy's parents are not certain. What comes after is well documented and from her "parents" back is well documented but I am not satisfied and can find no proof of who her parents are. She is not listed in John Rector's will. .. http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/20427432/person/945199346/comments?pg=32768&pgpl=pid
Thomas and brother Tunis, went to Franklin County with their mother, Nancy.
"My speculation is that Nancy (Rector) McElwain dies in Franklin abt 1802 based on only surviving son Tunis McElwain moving to Fanklin in 1797 and then back to WVA in 1802 ... " http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?Effa::mcelwain::224.html
