Birth
Wanįkšucka was born about 1842. (1905, 1911 censuses)
Name
The censuses give his Hocąk name as Wa-nik-shum-chum-kah, which is a corrupted form of Wanįkšucka, from wanįk, "bird"; šuc, "red"; and -ka, a definite article suffix used in personal names. This is an Upper Moiety name that was made into the surname of his descendants.
Marriage and Children
He married Rachel (Ha-so-ne-win-kah) (b. 1857). The 1905 census show his children to have been:
Ray is a daughter, and Spot a son.
