Henry Redhead was the son of Robert Redhead of Howden, Yorkshire, and his wife Elizabeth Potts. He was baptised at Howdeon on 31 August 1613 and entered in the parish register as "Henry s to Robt Readhead of Sandhall,"[1]
On 12 March 1630. the Howdem Registry granted "Arthur and Henry Redhead, sons of Robert Redhead, Esq., of Howden" tuition and their legacies under the will of Henry Dilborr, esq, of Temple Bar, London. The grant was made to their mother, Elizabeth Redhead, widow, of Howden.[2]
He was educated at Pembroke College, Cambridge. He was admitted in 1630-1, at age 18, and matriculated in 1631.[3]
He was believed to be the father of a daughter Anne, who was born out of wedlock and baptised on 20 October 1633 at Hemingbrough, Yorkshire. The parish register records:
"1633, Oct. 20. Anne, the doughter of Elizabeth Barnard of South Duffeld, and the supposed doughter of Mr. Henry Redhead, of London, bp."[2]
