DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Samuel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Samuel:

My father’s foster father was George M. Redman. From a 1930 census record in Sherwood, Clark County, WI, I know that he was born in Maine about 1861 and both his father and mother were born in Maine. The only possible family tie I can find for him is the the George M. Redman tied to Samuel Redman. But I don’t know how to confirm it. I have never found an obituary although from some old letters I know he died in 1932 in Wisconsin. I have not found a grave (online) or a death record. The George M. Redman who raised my father was married to Sarah (Sadie) E. Kirk. She and George lived in Chicago for 16 years before moving to central Wisconsin around 1916 and bought a farm. My dad referred to them as old people when they adopted him. Rightly so. George would have been about 55 and Sadie about 47 when they got my dad from the orphanage at the age of six. Turns out they never adopted him. He was indentured to them. I would like to hear from anyone who might be interested in exchanging information that might lead to a connection.
