James is the son of:

  • William Redman of Twiselton and Urswick (d. 20 May 1536);
  • and Margaret, daughter of Sir Thomas Tunstall.

Origins

His paternal great-grandparents are William Redmayne (Redman) of Twistelton (living 31 Jan 1435/6) and Cecilie Strickland.

Marriage

He married Maud, daughter of Geoffrey Redman, esq. of Thornton. They are the parents of:

  • William (b. 1522)
m. Margaret Vavasour
  • (dau) ______
m. Leonard Metcalfe, esq. of Bear Park (d. after 1570).

After James died, Maud went on to remarry Thomas Barton, esq.
