Maud or Matilda Redman was the daughter of Richard Redman of Harewood, Yorkshire and Levens, Westmorland and his wife Dorothy Layton. [1][2]She married first Christopher Irton of Irton, Cumberland, by whom she had sons Richard Irton and Christopher Irton.[3] Following Irton's death in 1562, she married Thomas Leigh of Isel, Cumberland, who settled the manor of Isel on her for life. Shortly after Leigh's death about 1572, she married her third husband, Sir Wilfrid Lawson. Maud then settled the manor of Isel on Lawson, resulting in a lengthy lawsuit following her death on 24 September 1624.[4]
