The R(h)eutweil=R(h)iedweil family emigrated from Freckenfeld, Germany to Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co, Pennsylvania & their surname was americanized to REDWINE.
In the 1790 and 1800 USA census Frederick Augustus Redwine (1767-1859) was listed as a resident of Salisbury District,Rowan/Montgomery County, North Carolina.
In 1805 the family was in Sequatchie (across the river from the northern part of Sand Mountain), where Frederick was the third settler to penetrate the cornbrakes of that fertile valley. It is believed that his wife was from that region; she is the only American Indian in the family before 1800 and has been claimed to be Tihanama.
About 1814 he moved his family to the Lexington, Kentucky area where he & his married son Wiley were listed in the 1820 census.
