Biography
Amy was born 2 Jul 1882 in Illinois. She was the daughter of Newton Reed and Mary Stroud.
In 1900 she was living in Woonsocket City, Sanborn, South Dakota.[1] The household included Newton B Reed 52, wife Mary A Reed 45, son Charles S Reed 20, daughter Amy C Reed 18, daughter Clara L Reed 13, daughter Marian Reed 8, and mother Hannah Reed 81. Newton and Mary had been married 24 years. Mary was the mother of 6 children, 4 living. Newton was a lawyer. Charles was an editor.
In 1910 she was living in Mt Vernon Ward 3, Davison, South Dakota.[2] The household included Frank J Reynolds 55, wife Mary E Reynolds 51, daughter Gladys E Reynolds 14, daughter Mable B White 34, son-in-law Thomas R White 28 and boarder Amy C Reed 27. Frank and Mary had been married 31 years. Mary was the mother of 3 children, 2 living. Frank was a farmer. Mable and Thomas had been married 1 year and had no children. Thomas was a civil engineer. Amy was single and was a bookkeeper at a flour mill.
In 1920 she was living in Davison, South Dakota.[3] The household included Amy C Reed 37 and Marion Reed 27. Both Amy and Marion were single. Amy was a bookkeeper at a bank. Marion was a school teacher.
In 1930 she was living in Seattle, King, Washington.[4] Amy age 47 was single and a lodger in a hotel. Amy was working as a stenographer for a fire insurance business.
In 1940 she was living in Seattle Election Precinct, King.[5] The household included Grace L Corfield 54 and partner Amy Reed 57. Grace was widowed. Amy was single. They were co-partners in a dining room.
She died 25 May 1976 in King County, Washington[6][7][8]
and is buried in Eventide Cemetery, Woonsocket, Sanborn County, South Dakota.[9]
