Buried: Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, Greene Co, MO.
Robert E. Reed, 59, of 1447 North Lyon, died suddenly at 11:43 o’clock yesterday morning at the Lindberg Commercial Tap room at 238 West Commercial of a heart attack. According to Officer Lee Kelso, the bartender, Gene O., Kin of 506 North Campbell said that Reed entered the tap room at 11:40 a.m. , picked up the morning paper and started to read it while standing in front of a glass showcase. Three minutes later he fell backward to the floor and the efforts of T. L. McArthur, 39 of 2044 North Main, recently discharged soldier, to administer artificial respiration were fruitless. Carl Gree, 36, of 338 ½ East Commercial, who had known Reed for “some time” and who was in the tap room at the time, told Officer Kelso that Reed had suffered a previous attach on November 3. Mr. Reed’s only know survivor is his widow, Maude. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Heran Lohmeyer, are incomplete. [Spfd NL_1945 12 20 p 12]
