Alexander Prewitt Reed was born on Jan. 10, 1831 in Sangamon, Illinois to Thomas Reed and Elizabeth Scoggins.

Alex was born about 1831. He was the son of Thomas Reed and Elizabeth Scoggins.

1856 - He married Nancy Lavinia Jeffreys on Nov. 1, 1856.^[1]

1862 - On Jan. 15, 1862 he enlisted in the Confederate army as a private under Captain Milton Damron in Darnell's regiment. ^[3] "D" Company, 18th. Texas Regiment of Cavalry. He served from 1862 to 1865. ^[4]

He died on May 31, 1889 at the age of 58.

In the 1870 census A (age 39), Farmer, was in Beat 5, Bell, Texas. ^[5]

In the 1880 census Alex (age 49), Farmer, was the married head of household in Precinct 7, Bell, Texas, United States.^[6]
