Biography

"Mary Elizabeth Reeder was born on 14 June 1782 in Newberry County, South Carolina, to Thomas Reeder and his wife Caroline Elizabeth Cole. She married Jesse R. Gary on 5 May 1800, in Newberry County."[1]

"Three of the Thomas REEDER daughters married GARYs, to wit. Mary md. Jesse GARY, Elizabeth md. Neuman GARY and Catherine md. James GARY and Samuel REEDER md. Sarah GARY."[2] Neuman Gary and James Gary were cousins of Jesse.

"Jesse and Mary's children were Lavinia, Thomas Reeder, Elizabeth, Martin, Rebecca, Hillary West, Louisa Lavinia, Franklin, and Milton Gary. Jesse and Mary were received into Bush River Baptist Church by experience, 12 August 1826. Mary Reeder Gary died, 11 October 1842, aged 60, in Newberry County, South Carolina, and was buried with her husband at Bush River Cemetery."[1]
