Biography

Birth

Sarah was born 1864 near Sweet Water Lake, Pennsylvania.

Marriage

Sarah married Thomas Pritchard April 19, 1883 at her parent's home in Livingston County[1], IL.[2] The date, or manner, in which the marriage ended is unknown. Two children were born: William Abraham b. 1884 and John Thomas b. 1886.

Sarah married John Thomas Haslam on October 20, 1890 in Streator, IL.[3]Sarah filed for divorce in 1915.[4]

Life Events

1870 Census: Sarah is living with her family in Dimmick, IL. Based on the birth locations of her siblings, the family moved here not long after her birth.[5]

1880 Census: Sarah is in Newtown with her family.[6]

1900 Census: Sarah is now married to John and keeping house with her family in Brookfield.[7]

1910 Census: Sarah and family have moved to Fall River. She is keeping house.[8]

1930 Census: Sarah is living in San Jose, California renting a home for $25 per month. Her age is listed as eight years younger than it actually is and no occupation is claimed. In the household is 31 year old Walton Lynn. Walton is noted as an "adopted son" - both of Walton's parents are still living and Sarah never legally remarried.[9]

1940 Census: Sarah is now in Berkeley, California, claiming an age eight years younger than actual, and the head of household is Walton Lynn who is working as a timekeeper for the local parks department. Sarah's relationship with Walter is listed as "mother."[10]

1950 Census: Sarah is living in a trailer in the LaGrange trailer park in Hodgkins, IL. Walter, working as a bricklayer, is the head of household and is noted as "step-son." Sarah claims her age to be nine years younger than actual.[11] Walter would copyright a praise recording transcript from Etta Bledsoe in October of that year.[12]

Death

Sarah passed in Hinsdale on January 9, 1953. She is interred in Clarendon Hills Cemetery.[13]
