Biography

William A. Reese was born in 1841 in Virginia. He was the son of George Washington Reese, Jr. and Isabelle Davis.

1850 U.S. Census George Reese (age 35) and his wife Isabelle (age 33) are living in Marion, Virginia with their children: Isaac (age 12), Elijah (age 10), William (age 8), John (age 5), Gibson (age 4), and Hugh (age 10 months). All were born in Virginia. George is a farmer. Isaac, Elijah, and William are attending school.^[1]

William's daughter Prudence Ellen Davis was born. Mother: Caroline Davis. No Evidence of marriage to Caroline found. Prudie's Birth and Death record list her last name as Davis.

22 April 1866 William A. Reese (age 23) married Amanda Poe (age 18) in West Virginia. Parents: George/Isabelle Davis and Wm. B /Mary Poe. ^[2]

In 1870 William A. Reese (age 28) and his wife Amanda (age 23) are living in Fetterman Township, Taylor, West Virginia with their children: Chas W (age 3), Mary E. (age 1), Thomas M (age 0). William and Amanda were born in Virginia. The children were all born in West Virginia. Value of personal property: $100. William is a brakeman for the railroad. Amanda is keeping house. ^[3]
