Additionas Facts

While Esther was cleaning the attic of her parents' home shortly after their deaths, she was sorting through boxes and came across a rolled up a piece of fabric. Her first impulse was to throw it away. But the spirit told her to open it. As she did, she found a pair of spectacles and a handwritten patriarchal blessing that was given by the Prophet Joseph Smith. Esther was hardworking. She would work hard to provide her family with the things that they needed in their home. Grandma Valeda told me that she hated to clean the separator. (A device used to separate the milk from the cream. it smell like sour milk and made her sick to clean it out) so she would make a deal with her mother that she would clean the house if her mom would clean the separator. Esther loved to cook and most of her recipes were memorized. Whenever anyone would ask about her cooking she would say it takes a pinch of this and a pinch of that. She had a small handwritten cookbook that was found among her possessions after Grandma Oleta passed away. it was full of recipes that she had made for her family. they were simple folks with a simple diet. Esther also loved to crochet and made many doilies in which she gave to others for gifts. Esther's health wasn't good. she began to have renal failure and before the days of dialysis, she died at the age of 55. Her son, Uncle Neal and Aunt Carma were engaged to get married and Esther made them promise that no matter what...they would get married. She passed away just a couple of days before they were married.
