Notables Project
Christopher Reeve is Notable.

Christopher D’Olier Reeve was an American actor, film director, producer, screenwriter, and author. On May 27, 1995, Reeve became a quadriplegic after being thrown from a horse in an equestrian competition in Virginia. He required a wheelchair and breathing apparatus for the rest of his life. He lobbied on behalf of people with spinal cord injuries, and for human embryonic stem cell research afterward. He founded the Christopher Reeve Foundation and co-founded the Reeve-Irvine Research Center.

Christopher D'Olier Reeve was born on September 25, 1952 in New York City, New York, United States, son of Franklin D'Olier Reeve (1928–2013).[1]

Reeve was of almost entirely English ancestry, with many family lines that had been in America since the early 1600s. [2]

Reeves was a descendant of Mayflower passenger William Bradford through his mother's family line.

Christopher (39) married Dana Morosini (31) (born on March 17, 1961 in Teaneck, New Jersey) in April, 1992.

Christopher died on October 10, 2004 in Mount Kisco, Westchester, New York, aged 52.[3][4]

... great things. He was quoted as saying "When the first Superman movie came out, I was frequently asked, 'what is a hero?' My answer was that a hero is someone who commits a courageous action without considering the consequences ... Now my definition is completely different. I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. They are the real heroes, and so are the families and friends who have stood by them."

After he was paralyzed in a horse riding accident, he became a huge advocate for spinal cord research and treatment. In the hospital when the accident has first happened, he said he thought maybe they should just let him go. His wife saved his life by saying "I'll be with you for the long haul, no matter what." "You are still you. And I love you." His progress was amazing but he performed a miracle for others. He worked for new research, lobbied Congress and went on Sesame Street to teach Big Bird and the kids how his wheelchair worked. They said he would not but he was eventually able to move some fingers and got most of his sensations in his body back. People always thought of him as Superman but he was Clark Kent. We are lucky he never let that stop him from doing ...
