Noticed this file was with no info but Year of birth 1850. Last name spelled wrong. James Pickney was born of Dougal F Reaves and Frances Harriet Gore Reaves. according to notes. NOTE: James Pinckney Reaves was not adopted by a Lewis. There is a male about 20 years later, where this might be an issue, but not with 1850 James Pinckney Reaves. This is the legal last name on his wife's death certificate.
Find a grave, tombstone pictures. NC Death Certificate of spouse Annie Jane Reaves, spouse, matches.
NB: All these "sources" depend on information from informants. Dougal Reeves is seen with his last name spelled R E E V E S in several sources, as well.
Question: a son, aged one month, is seen with the Dougal Reeves family in the 1850, and listed as Pinckney. Nickname listed above "Pinck" - reasonable to assume it's the same person. So, why is there no ten-year-old (or nine or twelve or anything in that range) in the 1860 census listed with the DF Reeves family in Columbus County? Where was Pinck?
James Pinckney Reeves born in 1850 is 2nd cousin 4th removed from Johnny Webber Piver Jr, born Aug 18, 1950. James and Johnny are 7 degrees apart.
James is second cousin to Annie Jane Garrell, widow. This is her second marriage.

This James Pickney Reeves was born June 12,1850, He married Patience Garrell. The info is basically correct at this time. There is also another Pinckney Lewis (Garrell) adopted (?)) born Aug 10, 1822, died 8/6/1877, to Zilpha (Zilphia) Lewis Gerrald (who died November 25, 1954), whose 2nd marriage was to Samuel B Garrell. (Her first marriage is questionable as legal to William Samuel Garrell.) This was Samuel's 2nd marriage also, as his 1st spouse was Catherine Floyd though no formal documents have been proven yet, her father was a preacher, so must be in a family bible. Zilpha is listed as Zelph (aka Zilphia) Garrell in US Census 1850, SC, Horry County, as head of household. Age 70. 3 children are listed: Pickney Garrell age 26; (date of birth listed above as 1822 but as variables happen, the census says by subtraction, 1824). Pickney Lewis Garrell is brother to Edwin Wallace Garrell (Jarrell) and half-brother to William (WJ) Garrell age 24 and Sarah A Small age 26. -Johnny Webber Piver Jr Piver_37

2/22/2023 There are 2 Pickney's and not to be confused. I will have to check, but one is like Pickney Lewis (adopted as Garrell) born Oct 2, 1822, died Aug 10, 1898. Born thru 2nd marriage to Zelpha Lewis Garrell (born 1783) by her 2nd husband Samuel B Garrell. Samuel B Garrell took Zelpha as his 2nd wife as Catherine Floyd was considered his 1st, though some say Samuel and Catherine did not formally marry. The James Pickney Reeves spoken here was born about 1850 in NC. Do not merge these two, nor mistaken the data. -per Johnny Webber Piver Jr.
