Biography

English flag
Asa Reeves Sr. has English ancestors.

Asa was born in Prince William, Virginia around 1739 to George Reeves and Mary Ann Doggett.[1][2][3][4]

He married Sara Lambert[3][4] around 1764. During the Revolutionary War, he furnished supplies to the soldiers.[5][6] He moved to Kentucky around 1787.

Asa died on 23 Nov 1822 in Fleming, Kentucky.[4][7]

Research Notes

There are some genealogical claims that Asa married a woman named Elizabeth around 1800 and that they had a daughter, Cynthia, around 1806 and there are traces of DNA that seem to support that although certainly not conclusive. The date of death for Sarah (Lambert) Reeves is of interest as divorce was rare. Some contend she died in 1796 and others as late as 1810. We do know that Elizabeth Satterfield had a daughter named Cynthia Reaves who was ostensibly born in Warren Kentucky far from Fleming, Kentucky and married in 1825.
It is not known whether Asa Reeves ever traveled to Warren County. There is certainly evidence of a several men in that county with the surname REEVES during the 1810-1820 time frame but no knowledge if they were related to Asa Reeves.
s we know Elizabeth was married to Isaac Satterfield when her daughter married, a search for her marriage to Isaac reveals that it was in 1815 - years before the death of Asa.
That Elizabeth and Asa were ever married seems unlikely. That he might have traveled to Warren County or she to Fleming County and conceived a child is possible but not supported by any evidence other than DNA and that evidence, being between distant cousins is quite weak. In any case, the daughter Cynthia garnered no mention in the will.

Asa Reeves Patriot, furnished supplies, Beef Wagon and four horses and driver, to give aid to the Colonist during the American Revolution.
