George Reffitt was born 17 Apr 1897 in Nicholas County, Kentucky, United States. [1]He is the son of Walter Reffitt and Lillian Anderson.[2]

His father Walter R was 22 working as a farm laborer and can read and write. His mother Lillie was 25 and cannot read and write she claims to have 3 children with 3 living but that was not accurate a son Pink had previously died. He was 12 born in Kentucky, working as a farmer and can read and write. His father Walter was 32 working as a farmer and could read and write. His mother Lillie had been married for 16 years, she is 37 and says she has 10 children with 9 living....(there were actually only 8 living at the time) she cannot read or write. The others in the home were siblings: May 16, Icy 11, Ally 9, Bertha 7, Ott 5, Earnest 3 and Henrietta 1. [4]

He is listed as working for Polar Bear Tobacco Company in Middletown, Ohio. He was of medium height and build with blue eyes and light hair. [1]

  • In 1920 George Reffet was living in Spencer Precinct, Montgomery County, Kentucky United States with his family on a farm they own. He was 22 born in Kentucky. His father Walter was 42 born in Kentucky and working as a farmer. His stepmother America was 27 born in Kentucky and can read and write. The others in the home were siblings: Allie 19, Aught 16, Earnest 13, Hernrietta 11, Elsie 9, Elmeath 7 and Raymond 6.[5] Elmeath is the daughter of Lillie America Lovins, Walter's second wife but was born well before their marriage.

George Reffit married Jennie May Lawson 12 Feb 1920 in Middletown, Butler County, Ohio, United States. He was listed as 22 on 17 Apr 1919, residing in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky and working as a laborer. She was listed as 21 on 1 May 1919 born in Bath County, Kentucky and residing in Middletown, Butler County, Ohio. She is the daughter of George Lawson and Mary Denniston. [6] Jennie May Reffitt died 17 Aug 1923 in Butler County, Ohio. She was residing at 314 Elsmer St., Middletown, Butler County, Ohio. Born 1 May 1898. She died of pulmonary Tuberculosis after a duration of 1 year. She is buried in the Middletown, Cemetery. [7]

George Reffett married Nellie Willoughby 10 May 1929 in Camargo, Montgomery County, Kentucky, United States. They were married by Rev. J. B. Ware of the Methodist Church. The witnesses were Thelma West and Mattie Cooper. He was listed as 24, residing in Montgomery County, Kentucky and a widow. She was listed as 21 born and residing in Bath County, Kentucky and single. He was 43 born in Kentucky, working as a farmer, had completed the 7th grade, paid $3 in rent and had resided in Nicholas County in 1935. His wife Nellie was 31 born in Kentucky and had completed the 7th grade. The others in the home were children: Florine 8, Rosilee 5, Lucille 3, Robert 1.[10]

George Reffitt died 23 Jul 1960 at Mary Chiles Hospital, Mt. Sterling, Montgomery County, Kentucky, United States. [13]He died of raspatory failure due to severe Emphysema. [2][14]

George Reffitt was buried 25 Jul 1960 in the Lovely Cemetery, Montgomery County, Kentucky, United States. [2][15][16]
