Research Notes
There are two Josiah Registers in the 1800 Census in North Carolina. Based on the age of the children in the household, it looks like this Josiah was living in Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina at the time.[1]
The Josiah Register who is listed in the 1800 Census appears to still be living in Wilmington at the time of the 1820 Census.[2] Is the death date of 1812 accurate? Is there a source, or was this an estimate?

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Josiah by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Josiah:
Register-501 and Register-161 appear to represent the same person because: Duplicate profiles for Aaron Register's father. Based on his marriage date, it looks like the 1758 birth date is probably correct. I looked briefly for sources @ FamilySearch, but the early census records only give a range of possible dates.
