Nancy was born about 1780. Nancy Register is not her real name since she was a Cherokee Indian. She passed away about 1830. [1]

1st Wife of Samuel Griffis Sr. and was thought to be of native indian decent. Folks Huxsford Wiregrass Georgia Vol. # 1 indicates her husband Samuel Griffis Sr. was living in Appling County from about 1819 untill about 1833. She could be buried in Appling County Georgia but the grave is not located at this time.

- Elroy_McAlexander (Ancestry.com): Alleged Indian ancestry: I have always heard that there was "Cherokee Indian" on my mother's side of the family. She was a Griffis with very black hair, blue eyes, and very high cheek bones. So there never was any doubt in our family of the Indian heritage.
