Rosalia was baptized in Oliva, Danziger Höhe, Westpreußen (today the neighborhood of Oliwa in Gdańsk, Poland) in 1881 and migrated with her family, sailing in 1882 from Bremen to Baltimore. No further record of her has been found.
Family legend holds that Rosalie, aged 3, was scalded by a spilled cooking pot during the journey from Baltimore to Wisconsin, died of her burns, and was buried in a cemetery along the route. Additional family tradition holds that she was originally mistakenly buried in a Protestant cemetery and had to be disinterred and moved to a Catholic cemetery.
