Biography

Fanny was born in 1853 in Chester le Street, Durham the daughter of Patrick Sandeman Reid and Elizabeth (Boosey) Reid.^[1]

1861 Census on the 7th April 1861 Fanny was living at Pelton Level, Chester-le-Street, Durham, with her parents Patrick and Elizabeth and her siblings Thomas, Isabella, Laurence, Maurice, Elizabeth and Sandeman. Patrick's cousin Andrew Reid and his children Louisa and Sidney were also living there.^[2]

1871 Census on the 2nd April 1871 Fanny was living in Marylebone, London with her parents Patrick and Elizabeth and her siblings Isabella, Maurice, Elizabeth, Sandeman and Theodore. Also living there was Patrick's sister Marian B. Reid aged 39.^[3]

Fanny married John Young and the marriage was registered in the 3rd quarter 1872 in Marylebone, Middlesex. Her marriage is included in the Sandemanian Genealogy (see Research Notes).^[4]

1881 Census on the 3rd April 1881 Fanny was living at Brent Villas, Hendon, Middlesex with her husband John Young and their children Fanny, John and Elizabeth. Also living there were her brother Laurence and his wife Maria.^[5]

1891 Census on the 5th April 1891 Fanny was living in Chapter Road, Willesden, Middlesex with her husband John and their children Fanny, John, Elizabeth, Kenneth and Arthur. Elizabeth Boosey a cousin, was also living with them.^[6]

1901 Census on the 31st March 1901 Fanny was living Chapter Road, Willesden, Middlesex with her husband John and their children Fanny, John, Reginald, Kenneth and Arthur.^[7]

1911 Census on the 2nd April 1911 Fanny was living at 28 Blenheim Gardens, Cricklewood, Middlesex with her husband John and their children Fanny, Reginald, Kenneth and Arthur.^[8]

Fanny, of Barnbogle, Uxbridge Road, Hatch End, Middlesex, a widow, died aged 83 on the 27th January 1936 in Hendon, Middlesex.^[9]

Probate of Fanny's estate, £2391 16s. 9d., was processed in London on the 17th March 1936 and passed to her childen John Ernest Young a retired stockbroker's clerk, Elizabeth Marion Gibson the wife of Edward Gibson, and to Reginald Herman Young a company director.^[10]
