Biography
Francis Reid was born about 1816 in Pencaitland. At some point in time, he married an Isabella Reid. Reid was both her married and maiden name. In the 1881 census, Francis, a Widower and a Blacksmith by trade, was living at 29 West Quarry St in Cambusnethan. Living with him was his 27 year old daughter Mary Reid and Mary's son George Cumorford Reid age 5 months. George had passed on when his daughter married in 1890 so he obviously died sometime after the 1881 census was taken and before July 1890.

Scotlands People shows a Francis Reid born 19 Jan 1816 in Pencaitland, the son of James Reid and Elisabeth Dickson so probably this Francis.
