Elizabeth was born on 30 March 1869 in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. She was the daughter of Alexander Reid and Margaret Annie Turnbull.^[1]

When Elizabeth was 28 she married Frederick Roland Andrews on 14 April 1897 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The couple had 4 children: Freda Maud Andrews, Alexander George Andrews, Margaret Anne Andrews and Jean Andrews.^[2]

—On April 14, 1897, at Nua-Wua, Mona street, Hobart, by the Rev. G. S. Moorhead, B.A., Frederick Roland Andrews, youngest son of the late George Andrews, to Elizabeth Maude May, second youngest daughter of the late Alexander Reid, of West Tamar, Tas., and Margaret Anne. Present address: 15 Greenland Avenue, Sandy Bay, Hobart. ^[3]
