"Among the pioneers of Augusta County, were three brothers, of Scottish extraction, who came from the County Down, in Ireland, where they were born -Thomas, John and Andrew Reid. (They were the sons of Alexander and Sarah Milne Reid.) [1]
"The oldest of these brothers, Thomas Reid, married a highland woman, named McKean, and had by her three children, two of whom married their cousins, daughters of their uncle, John Reid, Sr., who bore the title of Colonel. [1]
"These two were John Reid, Jr., who married his uncle John's daughter, Martha; and Nathan Reid, who married his uncle John's daughter, Sarah. . . [1]
"The third brother, Andrew Reid, Sr., had, among others, a son, Andrew Reid, Jr., who married the same Sarah, daughter of his uncle, Colonel John Reid, Sr., and Martha Nisbet, and the widow of his uncle Thomas Reid's son, Nathan." [1]
Alexander was born in 1648, the son of Andrew and Elizabeth Hall Reid.
He married first Sarah Milne and they had children: Andrew (Sr.), John (Sr.) and Thomas.
Alexander married second Jonet Proug.
He died in 1718.
