Violet was born on 11 July 1915 in Peitermaritzburg, Natal, South Africa[1] she is the daughter of Robert Nisbet Reid and Elizabeth Turner. Her father's occupation on the birth certificate, prospector, residing at Hilton Road.
Violet married Reginald George Hacksley on 13 July 1938 in Peitersburg, Potgietersrus, Transvaal, South Africa.[2]
