Biography

James Reid was born in a pub, entering into Neilsen & Co Railway Works in Glasgow as an apprentice. Hw quickly worked his way up the ranks and evetually became co-director of the company as Neilsen-Reid. He was made Lord Dean of Guild of Glasgow in 1893. [1]
