In the 1861 Scotland Census, Elizabeth is said to be 13 years old and employed as a Mill Worker. She resides with her parents and siblings, David (11), Ann (8), John (5) and Catherine (2) at "Workinens Houses" (possible transcription error?), at No 9 Pitcon, Dalry, Ayrshire.^[3]
