MARRIAGES
RICEāREID.
The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Quorn, was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Tuesday, October 29, the contracting parties being Ignatius Michael, son of Mr and Mrs J. J. Rice, Clifton Street, Goodwood, and Annie de Britta, daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Reid, "Aquinas," Quorn.
Nuptial Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father O'Byrne. The church was beautifully decorated by the girl friends of the bride in the form of an arch, with horseshoe hanging, etc. During the ceremony the choir rendered a Unison Mass, and Miss Dawn Reid, sister of the bride, sang Hoben's "Ave Maria," with violin obligato by Mr A J. Roberts. Miss V Matthews presided at the organ. The bride entered the church on the arm of her father, and was preceded by the tiny flower girl and her bridesmaids. She wore a dainty frock of ivory celanese satin with skirt of three frills of tulle forming the uneven hem, falling to points at each side, and long tight-fitting sleeves. She carried a sheaf of lilies with bow and streamers of silver ribbon. The beautifully, embroidered veil, which was arranged cap fashion and caught on each side with a spray of orange blossom, formed the train, and was lent by Mrs Ross, of Adelaide. The bridesmaids were Miss Elizabeth Reid, sister of the bride, and Miss Doreen Rice, sister of the bridegroom, and were frocked alike in daffodil georgette, with skirts falling in handkerchief points to the ankle, and large taffeta bow and ends on hip. They wore very dainty daffodil baku straw hats trimmed with ribbon and velvet flowers of autumn tonings, with satin shoes to match, and carried bouquets of autumn tints. Miss Lanus Hayes, the tiny flower girl, was frocked in pale green georgette with frills falling from a peaked bodice. She carried a basket of pink roses with green tulle bow. Mr Vincent Rice, brother of the bridegroom. was best man, and Mr Keith Reid, brother of the bride, acted as groomsman.
After the ceremony a reception was held at the Transcontinental Hotel, where Mr and Mrs W. Reid entertained about 64 guests. After the reception the happy couple left by the East-West Express for Melbourne where the honeymoon is being spent. The bride travelled in a navy crepe satin ensemble relieved with lemon, and wore a navy and lemon hat with navy kid shoes to match.
