Biography
Joseph was born about 1840, the son of Joseph Reid, a Farmer and Elizabeth Laing.
He was a successful farmer. The census for 1871 shows him as a potato-grower on 5 acres of land in Seafield, Old Machar, Aberdeenshire
By 1881 he has moved to Craigbank, Banchory Devenick, Kincardineshire and is described as a farmer of 95 acres employing 2 men 1 girl. He and Jane have seven children named in the 1881 census.
However Joseph died relatively young, age 47, of a brain aneurysm. Jane continued to manage the farm with the help of her children
