Wilhelm was born in 1873.
Immigrated to the United States in 1884. Became known as "William" after that.
Became a U.S. citizen on August 28, 1906, in Marinette, Wisconsin. [1]
Marriage records for Menominee County, Michigan, record his marriage to Mary as taking place on April 26, 1908. He is listed a laborer and she is a domestic. [2] Her family name is spelled "Bishop" on the records; while he has a father listed as "John Reinke" but given family recollections of the situation around his birth this is likely to have been the equivalent of "John Doe." (i.e., his father was not known and did not immigrate to the United States with other members of the family).
Per family recollection, he lost his arm in a sawmill accident. His draft registration card [3] from World War I lists his left arm as being amputated above the elbow. It also lists his profession as "fish peddler."
He passed away in 1956. [4]
