Biography

Julius Reiß was born 1851 as son of Ignaz Reiß and his wife Maria Anna Mayer in Grafenhausen.[1]

At least in the school years 1870/71 and 1871/72 he visited school in Einsiedeln Abbey, where he attended the first and second philosophy course. In 1870/71 he reportedly was absent for a longer time period.[2][3]

Since 1872/73 until at least 1875/76 he was studying theology at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau. Back then he was living at Herrenstraße 41 (Domkapitel).[4][5]

On 10 August 1877 he was ordained as a priest in Würzburg by archbishop Friedrich von Schreiber.[6]

Until 1880 he worked in the Diocese of Basel. In 1880 he became parish administrator (Pfarrverweser) and in 1882 parish priest (Pfarrer) of Altglashütten.

In 1898 he was relocated to be parish priest in Ehingen. From 1904 until 1926, when he "renounced and went into retirement",[7] he was Kapitelkammerer there as well.

On 16 September 1930 he died in the parsonage of Haueneberstein, where his nephew was priest as well.
