Biography

After her marriage in 1711 Elizabeth Rench / French went to court in Henrico Co, VA to ask for her share of her father's estate in accordance with his will.

Seth Rench is listed as a headright on Patent to Henry Turner dated 23 April 1681, the land being in Henrico County, Varina Parish and on South Side of Chickahominy Swamp. Seth's daughter Sarah married Lancelot Armstrong before 1728. I have that she was born abt 1731 in Varina Parish, Henrico Co. VA. She and Lancelot had children, Thomas, Sarah, William, Susannah, Mary, John, and Lancelot. I have just found a land deed that reads - John Woodson of Henrico Co, Merchant, for 2 dollars to Thomas Taplin, of same, planter, 100 acres on south side of Chickhomlay Swamp, bounded by mouth of Stoney Run and said Woodson, being part of a patent taken up by Henry Turner of New Kent County, and purchased by Sith Rench, and from him by said Woodson, with houses, etc. Dated 1 Aug 1707. Witnessed by Littlebury Epes, Joseph Pleasants, Thomas Watkins. Judith, wife of Woodson, relinquishes her dower.

Seth Rench died about 1704 and his property is all described as being in Chickahominy Swamp, Henrico County, Virginia when his daughters divide the property and sell their shares to Thomas Owens in deeds dated 1716, 1728 and 1737.

Will of Seath French: to youngest child Judith, equal share of 300 acres of land. Likewise to daughters Saraeth, Rachell, and Elizabeth, to have it at day of marriage; also livestock to each. All rest of estate to wife, Rachel. Dated 14 June 1704. Witnesses: Thomas Taphell, Thomas Owen, Isaac Mims. Will of Seth Rench (French) presented In court by John Price, who married Rachel, relict of dec'd. Recorded 1 Oct 1704

I appreciate the information but as this profile is already very thinly researched and as I have no burning desire to do so, I am going to let the sleeping dogs lie for now and maybe forever. I have no great faith in the Family Search work of many; If anyone wants to adopt this profile, I don't think granny Rench or French will mind.

Thanks again, Terry L.

I found sources with parents. Since this is not my profile if you would like to add them, I added the link.
