Biography

1910 – Indiana, Floyd, New Albany, 809 11th Street
Anna Fetter, widowed (66). Living at her house also are Joseph Renn (50), wife Anna (42) and their children Louis M. (4), Robert W. (3) and Annie E. (8 mos.). Joseph is a polisher at a stone factory, the house is owned, Anna shows that 3 of her 4 kids are still alive and Anna (daughter) shows all 3 of children are still alive. Anna shows her immigration date as 1853. Joseph and Anna have been married 6 years. [1]

1920 - Indiana, Floyd, New Albany, 809 11th Street
Anna Fetter (76), widowed, is still living with her only daughters family. Also in the house are Joseph Renn (60), Anna (52), Louis (15), Robert W. (13), and Mary M. (7). The house is owned, Joseph is a millwright for a grain elevator company and Louis is a paper carrier. Anna shows 1853 as her immigration date. [2]

1930 - Indiana, Floyd County, New Albany, District 17, 2 Apr 1930
Sheet 1A of the census shows Joseph Renn (70), wife Anna F. (61) and children Louis M. (24) and Mary M. (17) living in the house at 808 Eleventh Street. The home is owned and valued at $5,000. Joseph reports he was 45 when first married and Anna was 34. Joseph reports his father was born in Pennsylvania and his mother in Germany and he in Indiana. Anna reports her father was born in France and her mother in Germany and she is Indiana. The children were born in Indiana. Joseph is a janitor in a department store and Louis is a bookkeeper for a furnace manufacturer. [3]

1934 - Kentucky, Jefferson County, Louisville
Louis M Renn, 28, accountant, New Albany, Indiana, and Miss Cecelia M Schnurr, 24, of 753 South Shelby Street are granted a marriage license. [4]

1940 - Indiana, Floyd County, New Albany, District 22-25, 25 Apr 1940
Sheet 15B of the census shows Louis Renn (34), wife Cecilia (30) and children Louis (4) and Robert Lynn (2) living in the home at 1820 Grant Line Road. The home is rented for $30. Both Louis and Cecilia report having completed the 8th grade. Louis reports he was born in Indiana while Cecilia and the children were all born in Kentucky. The couple reports living in Louisville in 1935. Louis is a cost accountant for a furnace manufacturer. [5]

1940 - Indiana, Floyd County, New Albany
Louis Matthew Renn, born 25 Aug 1905 in New Albany, Indiana, is 35 when he completes his WW II Draft Registration card. He lists his wife, Cecilia Renn as the person who will always know his address. They are living at 1820 Grantline Road. He is employed at Hart Manufacturing in Louisville. He is reported to be 5'10" tall, weighs 142 pounds, has brown eyes, black hair and a dark complexion. [6]

1950 - Indiana, Floyd County, New Albany, District 22-56, 4 May 1950
Sheet 72 of the census shows Louis M Renn (43), wife Cecilia M (41) and children Louis M Jr (14) and Gerald T (7) living in the home on Charlestown Road. Louis Sr and Gerald were born in Indiana and wife Cecilia and sone Louis were born in Kentucky. Louis is an accountant for a restaurant equipment manufacturer. He worked 35 hours the week before the census. [7]

1960 - Indiana, Floyd County, New Albany, Louis M. Renn and wife Cecelia M. are living at 2600 Charlestown Road. Louis is an accountant for Vulcan Hart. [8]

1957 - Indiana, Floyd County, New Albany
Louis Matthew Renn, born 25 Aug 1905, died 2 Nov 1957 at the age of 52. Cause of death was cirrhosis of the liver and an esophageal hemorrhage. His parents are listed and Joseph Renn and Anna Fetter. His wife, the informant, is listed as Cecilia Renn. He died at St Edward Hospital. [9]
