First Name

Some family trees try to modernize Sicely's first name by spelling it Cicely. However, all of the original records spell her name with an S.

Maiden Name

Sicely's maiden name in the record of her marriage to William Rippley appears to be Row but could possibly be Reve. Familysearch.org has indexed it as Row,^[1] while Freereg.org.uk has indexed it as Reve.^[2] Some family trees say her last name was Revell, but there is no evidence that supports that proposition.

Parentage

Sicely's parentage is unknown. Some family trees say that her father's name was George or John Henry. No reliable evidence for either proposition has been found.

Date and Place of Birth

Some family trees say that Sicely was born on 14 September 1554 in Blofield, Norfolk. However, no reliable basis for either that date or place of birth has been found. Based on her 1579 date of marriage, Sicely was probably born sometime in 1553-61, with about 1557 being a reasonable midpoint estimate. Since she was married and lived in Wramplingham, Norfolk, she was probably born in or near that town.
