She emigrated to South Australia with her family on board the 'Indian' in 1849. [2]
She married William Lyle on 19 Apr 1867 in South Australia. Her marriage notice was published in the South Australian Register: "LYLE - REVELL - On the 19th April, at the residence of the bride's father, by the Rev. G. Stonehouse, William S. Lyle, eldest son of Mr. Thomas. S. Lyle, to Emily, eldest daughter of Mr William Revell of Bolton-street, North Adelaide." [3]
She passed away 29 Aug 1907. Her memorial notice was published in the Register: "LYLE.—On the 29th August, at Miss Hill's Hospital, Wakefield street, Emily Maria, the beloved wife of W. S. Lyle, after a long illness, aged 61 years. At rest."[4]
