Maria (Rex) Horner was born in New South Wales, Australia
Maria was born on the 31 October 1848 in the suburb of Redfern, City of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia[1]. Her baptism took place on the 11 February 1849 at St. Lawrence Church of England, George Street, City of Sydney, Parish of Cumberland, New South Wales, Australia[2]. Maria (Rex) married Robert (Horner) on the 26 November 1872 at St. Andrew's Church of England, in the goldmining Village of Hill End, District of Hill End, near the Town of Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia[3]. At the time of his marriage, Robert was a Miner at Bathurst and the couple had 9 children. At the age of 61, Maria passed away, on the 17 January 1911, from Heart Disease at her home, High Street, in the Town of Penrith, New South Wales[4]. An Inquest into her death was held on the 19 January 1911 in Penrith presided over by A. Judges J.P.[5]. Her burial took place on the 19 January 1911 at the Rookwood Cemetery, 1 Hawthorne Avenue, Rookwood, City of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and the location of her grave is Plot T; Zone C/ grave 7364[6].

DEATHS. HORNER.— January 17, 1911, at her late residence, High-street, Penrith, Maria, beloved wife of Robert Horner, aged 62 years[7].
The Inscription on her headstone reads:--
In Loving Memory of MARIA HORNER Who Passed Away 17th Jan. 1911; Aged 62 Years. Erected By Her Loving Husband and Children. Nothing In My Hand I Bring Simply To Thy Cross I Cling.
