Ransom R. Rex of Marble Rock Died Sunday Afternoon

Resident of Greene for Nearly 20 Years When He Was Employed at Buchholz and Dralle Store

Ransom R. Rex, age 76, a well known resident of Marble Rock, and for 18 years a resident of Greene, died at this home in Marble Rock Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock after an illness of nearly four months. Mr. Rex had been a patient at the Cedar Valley hospital, in Charles City, where he underwent a surgical operation, and was brought back to his home in Marble Rock about two weeks ago. With the exception of 18 years spent in Greene, and two years on a North Dakota homestead, and in Minnesota, Mr. Rex lived all of his life in the Marble Rock community. When a resident of Greene he was employed in the Buchholz and Dralle store. He returned from Greene to Marble Rock in 1914. He attended the Marble Rock schools and taught school in the schools of Floyd county for several years. He spent a year in Rapid City, South Dakota, and a year in Staples, Minnesota. He was one of fourteen children of Mr. and Mrs. Ackley Rex, and was born October 16, 1866. There are now but four of the family living, Charles T. Rex of Marble Rock, Clyde Judson Rex of Ellsworth, Clifford Paul Rex of Alamose, Colorado, and Mrs. Mety Haines of Floyd. Funeral services are being held this afternoon at the Christian church-in Marble Rock, under the direction of the Rev. Claude Baber of Rudd. Burial is to be made in Hillside cemetery, Marble Rock.
