Tumut and Adelong Times (NSW : 1864 - 1867; 1899 - 1950), Friday 26 February 1909. [1] Death of Mrs. Timmis. A telegram received in Tumut on Thursday last conveyed the sad intelligence of the death of Mrs. Timmis, of Batlow, which occurred that morning. She was one of the oldest pioneers in these districts, her age being 91 years, about 60 of which have been spent at Batlow, after having been located for a time at Yellowin, where deceased's late husband acted as a teacher to the families of the late Messrs J. & T. Wilkinson. The old lady had been very feeble for some years past, and had lately become a complete invalid, therefore her end was not unexpected. Her son, Mr. R. R. Timmis, was in Tumut when the news of his mother's death arrived, and he immediately returned, home. On Thursday morning Rev. Kennedy journeyed up to Batlow to perform the funeral ceremony. In our next issue we hope to be able to publish a full obituary notice.
