No birth or baptism record has been identified for Henry Rex.

In 1861 Henry Rex was recorded age 7 resident at 1 Watkins Court, Clifton, Bristol, with parents Samuel and Mary A Rex.^[1]

In the Census records he tends to have been recorded as 'Henry' while for the baptisms of his children he was recorded as 'William Henry'.

Henry Rex age 22, bachelor, Labourer, married Mary Ann Chard age 19, spinster, by Banns on 17 Mar 1876 at St Andrew, Clifton. Father's name was recorded as Samuel Rex, Labourer.^[2]

Henry was a Ferryman in Bristol (the Rownham Ferry) and later a Furniture Dealer.

There is a reference to him in an Inquest:^[3]

Charles Napier Sampson - His body was found in the Avon in February 1886 by the Rownham ferryman Mr Rex. He had been missing from his lodgings in Clifton since December 22nd 1885. Verdict of the inquest was suicide.
