To date, neither the marriage certificate nor John's 1940 census has been located but there is a 1940 census for Marguerite showing that she is single on 2 Apr 1940.[16] The Army enlistment shows that John is already married prior to 28 Apr 1942.[6] Their first child was born on 25 Aug 1942[8] so one might surmise the marriage was around Oct 1941 or earlier. Although the draft registration[6] does not clearly say he was single, the next of kin is his mother Roberta and on can infer that he was still single. So we can speculate the couple married between Oct 1940 and Oct 1941 but certainly between 2 Apr 1940 and 28 Apr 1942.
